Sr Technical Lead

The Sr Technical Lead is responsible for leading analysis, programming, and configuration of end user applications or systems software including both systems analysis and programming or configuration of packaged products created by third parties. While working as a thought leader within the department, this job recommends operational strategies and plans that have direct impact on results. This role also influences business decisions made by leadership.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops strategy and roadmap for delivering innovation and automation while analyzing detailed business requirements and specifications for the application.

  • Configures internally developed applications and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) applications using programming, scripting, and database languages.

  • Plans application testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding application enhancements.

  • Maintains relationships with clients while communicating with IT and business management and monitors prompt response and support for technical issues.

  • Receives activity and progress reports regarding applications systems analysis and programming sections

  • Lead process improvements, cost reduction efforts, tool development to improve the software development and support process in a way that reduces complexity, improves service, and reduces cost.

  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level professionals.

Required Skills:

  • 8 or more years of experience in a similar technical lead role within the financial services industry

  • 8 or more years of hands-on experience in a Development or Production Support/Engineering role in a UNIX/Linux Environment

  • 8 or more years of experience supporting distributed applications (Oracle, SQL, SQL Server, UNIX, Java, webservices etc.)

  • Collaborative, articulate thought leader with technical background

  • Experience in UNIX shell, Perl, Python, Ruby or similar scripting languages

  • Experience withDatabase troubleshooting experience on Oracle database /RDBMS

  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a mission critical operating environment.

  • Knowledge of System Development Life cycles methodologies -SDLC and direct experience leading teams in an Agile environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Written and verbal communication skills: articulate and effective communicator and presenter, able to describe complex problems in both technical and business terms

  • Experience performing as the primary Technical support contact as a member of a 7x24 support team

  • Understanding of the ITIL Framework and its benefits to applications/systems support & stability

  • Demonstrated experience implementing technical (Automation) or process improvements in a production support environment

  • Experience in providing Enterprise Level Technical support, preferably in the retirement recordkeeping industry

  • Experience in writing technical systems documentation including logical and physical designs.

  • Experience with application development using Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate (or similar JPA Implementation)

  • Experience with Java concepts including Multi-Threading, Exception Handling, Lambda

  • Knowledge of Spring JDBC or Spring Data JPA to interact with a database system

  • Experience with Spring Caching or other cache implementation within Java such as Redis or EhCache

  • Knowledge of containerization with Docker or Kubernetes

  • Experience with CI/CD Tools such as Jenkins

  • Knowledge of build automation tools, such as Maven or Gradle

  • Familiarity with Enterprise Systems Hardware including Server, Network, Storage technologies

  • Demonstrated experience learning new technologies

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting tools such asTivoli, Splunk, MySQL, Wireshark

Base Pay Range: $118,800/yr. - $198,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
