TIAA Lead Data Movement Engineer in Broomfield, Colorado

Lead Engineer

We are seeking ETL Engineers for our Enterprise Data Movement Delivery Team in our Charlotte, NC, Broomfield, CO or Iselin, NJ offices . This position will execute Enterprise Data Movement infrastructure projects and work with the Application Development teams and other stakeholders within the organization to ensure that their projects are successful.


This role will be a Subject Matter Expert for the InfoSphere Information Server® Suite of products. The primary focus includes working directly with various stakeholders to plan and execute infrastructure projects; work with the Application Development Team to support them with the InfoSphere Information Server® products; and assist with the resolution of support escalations as required to ensure our enterprise data movement platform remains stable, scalable, reliable, available, secure, and performant. TIAA is using all components of the InfoSphere Information Server suite in a grid architecture including DataStage, QualityStage, Information Governance Catalog, Information Analyzer, Information Services Directory, US Address Certification, and Platform LSF grid resource management software. There will also be the opportunity to learn other enterprise data movement technologies such as Talend, Confluent Apache Kafka, IBM MQ, IBM MQMFT, IBM Sterling Integrator, CICS, and IBM MQ Appliance.


This role supports both the Delivery & Service Management teams. It is the organization’s philosophy that we “follow-the-sun”. This role will work during the Mountain Time daylight hours. Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide engineering, delivery, and support functions for all aspects of the InfoSphere® Information Server Suite of products;

  • Troubleshoot issues and develop solutions in an effective manner;

  • Participate in meetings and discussion with line of business teams to understand the requirements and build-out a design;

  • Design, develop and deliver infrastructure for enterprise data movement applications using middleware technologies;

  • Perform script-based automation for daily business activities including network maintenance events, patching events, resiliency events, server and application deployments, partner closely with application developers to support applications hosted on servers;

  • Train teammates on the InfoSphere Information Server® Suite of products

  • Define, design, and, implement metrics reporting for the platform

Career Level



∙ Minimum of 5 years working in an Information Technology position;

∙ Minimum of 5 years’ experience using IBM the InfoSphere® Data Stage tool (both administration and development roles);

∙ Experience supporting data integration environments (ex. Enterprise, Grid, Cluster environments);

∙ Experience with building, configuring, patching and upgrading core infrastructure platforms;




∙ Experience with Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform / Cloud;

∙ Experience with the Talend Data Integration suite of tools;

∙ Experience with grid architectures and platforms;

∙ Experience working in an environment that is undergoing transformation and ability to work within change management and release management processes;

∙ Experience in writing Technical documentation and Technical Training Guides

∙ Ability to troubleshoot and develop solutions; must have a passion for performing this task;

∙ Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline, or four (4) years of related work experience;

∙ Familiar with ITIL processes and standards;

∙ Experience working in the financial service industry;

∙ Experience with other data movement platforms such as IBM MQ, IBM MQMFT, IBM Sterling Integrator, Confluent Apache Kafka, CICS, IBM MQ Appliance,

∙ Project management experience

∙ Experience using Microsoft Excel pivot tables and PowerPoint to communicate to management

∙ Experience with Oracle databases and bulk load utilities;

∙ Experience using Teradata databases and bulk load utilities;

∙ Experience with zOS;

∙ Ability to work off-hours and weekends to accommodate implementation requirements;

∙ Desire to learn new tools and technologies within the enterprise data movement technology stack

∙ Possess excellent communications skills, both verbal and written;

∙ Must be team player, self-motivated, practice Inclusion, and have excellent work ethic

Potential Salary: $137,000.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).Â
