TIAA is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to support the AIX Platform for our enterprise. This position can be located in our Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL or Broomfield, CO office. The ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert for the AIX Platform and PowerVM infrastructure. This role will develop strategies, roadmaps for the platform. In addition, have daily oversight of multiple NIM servers that are used for patching and integration of updates to ssh, ssi, and Java into NIM lpp_sources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Provide oversight to the AIX Platform andPowerVM infrastructure
Builds, maintains and supports complex UNIX(AIX, Solaris) and Linux Operating Systems in an enterprise environment
Provide technical leadership for primaryproducts and subsystems
Evaluates new and existing software andhardware products
Monitor approximately 200 AIX virtual hosts and50 vioservers running on Power8 and Power9 hardware
Integrate, test and validate various thirdparty packages (PBIS, Splunk, Tripwire, BigFix, BoKs, EMC Networker, etc.) onthe AIX and vioserver hosts to include the creation and maintaining of scriptsto deploy and update packages when required
Keep current with IBM notifications for HIPERand emergency efixes and ensure security vulnerabilities are remediated in atimely manner
Perform engineering functions for Linux andSolaris platforms
Perform Amazon AWS engineering/operations(infrastructure, standards, platform optimization)
Perform scripting/Automation for ServerBuild/Configuration
Provide training, support and guidance to usersfor the AIX Platform
Provide support for Siebel/MDM applicationcomponents
Partner with other cross-functional teams toidentify tasks and drive them to completion on schedule
Engage and assist other teams with issueidentification and resolution of problems
Participates in capacity planning
Create and maintain accurate, up-to-datedocumentation
Provide input to improve the stability,security, efficiency and scalability of systems
Ensure business continuity provisions areconfigured, available and tested
5 years’ experience with Linux, AIX Serverincluding clustering, patching, monitoring, back-up, security
5 years’ experience with scripting languagessuch as Python, Perl, Shell
5 years’ experience designing/supportingplatforms with multi-site and/or highly available designs
Experience with patching strategies and toolssuch as Red Hat Satellite
Demonstrated experience to diagnose problemsseen on virtual host(s) down to the physical layer (i.e. recoverable SAN errorson multiple hots, identifying the physical network or san switches/ports usedby a virtual host)
Experience documenting requirements anddesigned solutions
Experience with AWS Engineering/Administration
Experience with Ansible
Experience with BigFix
Familiar with the use of mksysb and vioservervirtual cd images to clone or rebuild a host on a different physical server
Familiar with the use of Xwindows GUIs such asOracle installer on AIX
Familiar with the use of YUM on AIX and keepingopen source packages consistent and current within the AIX base
