TIAA Director - Sr Lead Development Manager for Mobile/Head of Mobile Engineering in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Head of Mobile Engineering will be responsible for leading the development of the Mobile platform and engineering practices within TIAA. The position will be responsible for architecture, design, development and delivery of the Mobile Platform roadmap.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Manages iOSand Android engineers and owns engineering efforts of consumer mobile appsthat requires design, build and maintain solutions within a set oftechnology products.

  • Setup fullmobile engineering CI/CD pipelines, including automated build and releaseprocesses, fully automated testing suites, and production monitoring andsupport.

  • Experiencewith publishing mobile apps in public/consumer facing mobile app stores.

  • Abilityand interest to stay up to date on the latest Mobile Platform offerings fromcompanies like Apple, Google and Samsung and others and apply opportunitiesthat may exist to our products.

  • Ensurethe mobile development team is complying with relevant coding and engineeringprocesses

  • Provide teamguidance on code reviews, branching strategy, and release coordination

  • Willactively participate in architecture, software design, development and deliveryof the platform

  • Definesand discernskey aspects of problems and developsintegrated solutions within a broad technical context.

  • Drive the delivery of superior technical implementations todrive business objectives.

  • Approaches tasks systematically and independently adapts workactivities and behaviors to support changes in requirements from stakeholders.

  • Identify new technologies and trends which offer alternativeinnovative solutions.

  • Leads and is accountable for the overall design of complexapplications and/or experiences. Effectively manages enterprise impacts.

  • Uses knowledge of the firm’s businesses, products operatingmodels and systems to pro-actively develop relevant ideas for new/improved usesof technology or application of design to drive business results in a functionor line of business.

  • Adapts the level of detail according to the objective of thedocumentation and targeted audience.

  • Understands process improvement methods and measurementtechniques.

  • Accounts for own and others activities, working within theproject scope, making choices and giving instructions. Manages relationshipswithin the team. Plans and establishes team objectives and outputs. Documentsresults. Manages project risk and issues.

  • Systematically interprets user problems identifying thesolutions and possible risks.

  • Usesexperience to isolate user problems and effectively uses all resources toidentify potential solutions (e.g., databases, documentation, etc).

  • Resolvesescalated issues throughout the development, configuration, andmodification of integrated business and/or enterprise applicationsolutions

  • Escalatescomplex or unresolved incidents to experts. Records and tracks the incidentfrom initiation to resolution.

  • Uses in-depth knowledge of TIAA businesses and organizationstructure to ensure projects/programs are aligned with the IT and businessstrategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’sDegree is required.

  • 10+years of development experience

  • 5+years of Mobile (iOS & Android) development experience

  • 5+ years of experience leading development teams

Preferred

  • Experiencein mobile programming languages (Swift and Objective-C/ Kotlin and Java)delivering large scale public-facing mobile apps

  • Strongunderstanding of Apple/Google’s design principles and interface guidelines

  • Experiencewith mobile performance tuning

  • Strongexperience in debugging, code coverage, code analyzer / profiler and unittesting tools

  • Strong focuson security of the channel and any customer data

  • Well versedin real-time networking, mobile network issues, concurrency and threading

  • Financial Servicesindustry experience
