POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Application Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that production incidents are managed effectively with minimal customer impact. Manage the response to incidents globally and use a variety of incident management tools, communications, and facilitation methods to ensure issues are identified and the right stakeholders are involved in resolution. Coordinate, and drive cross functional teams throughout the entire incident management process. Conduct after action reviews after an incident is closed to ensure key learnings are gathered and mitigations put in place. This is a hands-on position with a strong emphasis on regular production support. The right candidate should be comfortable learning new technologies and thrive in a true-agile, fast-paced, production environment.

Must possess confidence to challenge status quo and leadership ability to drive and inspire technical and process changes. This position is a strong advocate and catalyst for continual process and technology improvements related to all aspects of MIM (Major Incident Management), Problem Management and Disaster Recovery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Oversee recovery efforts for major incidents or problems (irrespective of severity) that cause service impact and acts as escalation point for incidents not being resolved in a timely manner

  • Ensure that required technical resources are engaged and actively working to restore service for business-critical events and performing functional and hierarchical escalations as appropriate

  • Ensure that issues are responded to and that normal service operations are restored as quickly as possible

  • Review and revise incident management processes, policies and escalation procedures on a regular basis to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in responding to issues

  • On call for 24/7/365 for all major incidents

  • Develop, implement and continually refine and improve incident and problem management procedures and documentation to align service operations with best practices and addressing triage/analysis, response, resolution, escalation and communication

  • Facilitate discussion to identify options for resolution

  • Understand the business impact of the escalated Incident

  • Work closely with the Nuveen application teams and Converged Technical Operations (C-TOC) to collaboratively support the mission of monitoring critical services, critical batch monitoring reducing incidents and shortening the impact of events and minimizing service disruption to our customers

  • Monitor applications for most efficient operation, identifying fault conditions as well as opportunities for further optimization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field

  • Experience in a 24x7 production environment, esp. one based on Linux

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with a Linux or Unix-like command line

  • Strong multi-tasking skills

  • Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Linux/Unix Systems administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, Solaris, etc.)

  • Experience with multi-tenant architecture

  • 2+ years’ experience with Cloud Service Models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)

  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing concepts (Virtualization, SOA, Grid and Utility Computing)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with debugging applications running on Linux and/or Unix servers

  • Splunk and Splunk ITSI experience a plus

  • Familiarity with Dynatrace, CA- Wily, Introscope, Executive Insight APM solution

  • Experience in banking or financial services field

  • AWS CloudWatch experience

  • AMS Cloud services

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus

  • Experience with SSO and permissions management

  • Experience with Federated Identity Management

  • Automation or monitoring framework experience, deployment or development

  • Open to working shifts (morning, mid-afternoon, or evening; Su-Thu, Tu-Sat)

  • Experience with process automation and orchestration products

  • Experience with Windows servers
