Lead Development Manager

Lead Development Manager – Leveraged Finance Technology

The Lead Development Manager of Leveraged Finance Technology is responsible for managing the analysis, development and configuration of technology systems and related infrastructure for the Leveraged Finance area. This role will work closely with portfolio managers, investment research analysts, and risk professionals as well as middle office operations, investment & client reporting teams, to support & develop applications supporting the Leveraged Finance business at Nuveen. This job advises developers on best methods of software development and code creation. Working with the leadership team, this job provides project leadership for software development activities.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead a group of developers, analysts, and project managers to develop & support applications aligned to Nuveen’s Leveraged Finance business.

  • Provide technology leadership as well as domain expertise in CLOs/Structured Credit investments.

  • Perform analysis and evaluation of new data sources, products and solutions used in the CLOs/Structured Credit space.

  • Research into new and emerging technologies, work with the team to perform proof of concepts and document results.

  • Help with project management/planning activities such as sprint planning and reporting of work done in this space.

  • Identify and communicate technical risks, issues, and changes.

  • Perform complex defect verification, debugging, testing and support. Support the systems by investigating, analyzing and documenting reported defects.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates that meet SDLC standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in an Application development leadership role.

  • Experience supporting Leveraged Finance/Structured Credit/Collateralized Loan Obligations assets

  • 4+ Experience with SQL Server Data Warehousing platforms using Facts and multidimensional Dimensions with SQL Server SSIS and/or DTS ETL packages development.

  • 4+ years of experience with .NET, C#, ASP.NET, WCF, REST API and SOAP

  • 4+ years of Experience within a Unix environment with scripting skills in Python or Shell scripts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commands and utilities, some monitoring and tuning using Splunk.

  • Ability to develop shell scripts or other scripts (such as shell/perl/python) for data processing, job execution and monitoring.

  • Experience with DevOps or CI/CD process and related build/deploy tools using SERENA or Cloud Bees

  • Practical experience implementing RESTful Web Services using the microservices architecture and cloud migration (AWS preferred)

  • Familiarity with IDE software development tools - (Visual Studio, Eclipse etc.),

  • Hands on Experience with writing SQL using SQL Server or Oracle Database technologies

  • Experience with various programming languages (Java and Python preferred), Data processing tools and well known frameworks and libraries related to these platforms.

  • Experience with Statistical - Financial modelling and programming skills (MATLAB, R)

  • Some understanding of quantitative methods in performance, attribution, risk, valuation and portfolio management space and familiarity with related datasets

  • Understanding of index/benchmarks, risk models, valuation techniques, portfolio construction, portfolio optimization and factor models

Potential Salary: $176,100.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
