Senior Director, Associate General Counsel
The Senior Director, Associate General Counsel, Litigation position protects the organization's rights, obligations and privileges and its legal interests by providing expert legal advice on litigation and regulatory enforcement matters. This job manages a number of litigation and regulatory enforcement matters across the enterprise; provides legal advice/counsel in business-related areas of expertise (e.g., corporate law, business litigation, ERISA, securities, antitrust, insurance litigation, cyber and privacy litigation, etc.); and recommends key legal and/or business strategies to management.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Represents/advocates for the organization in complex litigation, arbitration, mediation, investigations, and regulatory enforcement matters
Performs and manages all litigation and regulatory enforcement activities on assigned matters through trial and appellate stages, including among other things research, pleadings, motions, discovery, witness interviews, regulatory correspondence, depositions, conferences, trials, mediations and arbitrations.
Coordinates outside counsel on matters pertaining to litigation and regulatory enforcement; demonstrated ability to discuss and manage outside counsel fee negotiations on a team / relationship basis.
Leads project teams for Law and Policy or business unit area initiatives.
Develops and refines internal procedures for delivering legal services and managing litigation-related processes
Presents to senior and executive levels of management.
Develops and implements cost effective legal strategies on complex claims and lawsuits.
Provides legal advice, guidance, and counsel to business partners on escalated disputes in advance of litigation.
Identifies, evaluates, and addresses issues of litigation or regulatory risk.
Researches, analyzes, and interprets proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations.
Advises management on recent changes in laws and regulations and litigation developments that affect the organization.

Required Experience:
5+ years of legal experience as a litigation attorney at a national law firm, government agency and/or in-house legal department required.
JD from an ABA-accredited law school and member in good standing of a state bar.
Preferred Experience:
7+ years of legal experience as a litigation attorney at a national law firm, government agency and/or in-house legal department preferred.
10+ years of demonstrated ability to manage litigations and investigations with limited supervision and act as lead counsel on sophisticated, complex matters.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: securities litigation, enforcement matters, investigations, ERISA, antitrust, broker-dealer, and/or insurance law a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
Advanced problem solving and prioritization skills.

Base Pay Range: $176,700/yr. - $258,000/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
