Info Systems Architecture Leader

Develops strategies for enterprise architecture and insures that they align with business strategies and processes; manages technical resources and architecture staff to deliver high quality programs.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Developing strategies for enterprise architecture and creating a vision for enterprise technology that aligns with business strategies, processes and needs.

  • Making decisions on IT development and implementation, system priorities, infrastructure maintenance, and data and application architecture, within the enterprise.

  • Designing processes, standards and policies for enterprise architecture in order to support infrastructure and application development; finding ways to reduce costs, while improving overall efficiency.

  • Managing enterprise architect and technical resources; using these to deliver high quality programs to meet business requirements.

TIAA has an opportunity for a Sr. Director, Enterprise Architecture. This role will have leadership oversight of the federated enterprise architecture and design model. Furthermore, will provide subject matter expertise for the enterprise architecture (EA) teams and other stakeholders. This individual in this role will have to navigate the changing landscape and provide sponsorship to influencing legacy systems to move into an agile framework environment.

The ideal candidate must understand how enterprise technology framework can lead to desire goals. In this role, both strategic and analytical thinking are just as important as outstanding soft skills. The individual will work with leaders and stakeholders across the enterprise to keep abreast of business strategy. In addition, will make recommendations and drive direction on initiatives, keeping them in line with our future state and drive value beyond the standard scope of IT/Technology. The role requires someone who is adaptable and can span a spectrum of roles from strategic to the tactical depending on the need of the moment. This role can be located in our Charlotte, NC, Iselin, NJ, Denver, CO, Broomfield, CO, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX or Jacksonville, FL, office.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform leadership oversight as an innovator, enabler, and integrator of an enterprise trough federated architecture and design model required for the development of an enterprise information technical architecture.

  • Collaborate with leaders across the enterprise to understand business strategies direction, and identify needs.

  • Lead a team of federated architects, while also virtually leveraging subject matter experts from any needed technical area.

  • Synchronize business needs with information technologies and capabilities.

  • Implement and maintain adherence to TIAA’s IT standards, principles, and practices.

  • Led or participate in enterprise vendor, technology, and tool selection.

  • Engage with enterprise project and portfolio management processes to evaluate opportunities and provide guidance on initiatives.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and assessments to business stakeholders.

  • Facilitate complex design and technical discussions, reconciling differing opinions and drive the decision-making process.

  • Present architectural decisions and proposals to stakeholders to explain how business strategy alignment is achieved.

  • Collaborate with solution architects, enterprise architects, IT leadership and delivery teams to ensure alignment with target and reference architectures, provide guidance, solicit feedback, and identify enterprise IT needs.

  • Contribute to the growth and maturity of EA processes as the discipline evolves.

  • Perform analyses and synthesize information through Meta models and architecture diagrams that uncover operational gaps.

  • Perform evaluations in terms of integration and compliance with enterprise and business standards.

  • Monitor key EA and technology trends and industry standards.

  • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

  • Lead and guide the work of technical staff.

  • Monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards and cost targets are met.

  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of broad experience in Information Technology with depth in sub-disciplines of business architecture, information architecture and application/technical architecture, and breadth across all disciplines in a large global enterprise.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience providing management oversight to a team.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with ITIL service management framework.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience architecting IT solutions in regulated environments; knowledge of all enterprise software and technological trends.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with enterprise cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience using agile methodologies, including Scrum and Scaled Agile (SAFe).

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Previous experience providing IT solutions within the financial services industry.

  • Experience managing diverse technical resources located across different time zones.

  • Ability to understand the long term (“big picture”) and short-term perspective of situations

  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of ETA alternatives

  • Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems

  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies

  • Knowledge of information technology principles and processes

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to prepare technical documentations, SOP’s, architectural specifications, and business cases, and be comfortable providing presentations to senior level stakeholders

  • Knowledge of existing and emerging solutions, applications, and technologies and how they can best be implemented to support the business drivers.

Potential Salary: $209,000.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).Â
