TIAA Technical Lead in Charlotte, North Carolina

Technical Lead

  • Provide leadership in the Data Development space for customer touch points, from the requirements phase through delivery.

  • Responsible for meeting customer data needs by analyzing, architecting and designing data solutions using private or public cloud technologies.

  • Contribute to and/or lead the specification and software design phases of the software development life cycle.

  • Performing and aiding in quality assurance testing, performance testing, troubleshooting application and environment issues, and production support.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage the technical delivery of multiple projects on-time, on-budget and with targeted zero defects.

  • Mentoring junior developers.

  • Provide planning, estimation, scheduling, prioritization and coordination of technical activities related to system development.

  • Ensure system alignment to Enterprise Architecture policies and best practices; ensure that process methodologies are followed in system development.

  • Accountable to business and technology management for end to end application scoping, planning, development and delivery that meets and exceeds quality standards.

  • Oversee creation and approval of technical documentation including the Solution Definition document and Technical Design document; ensure documentation is aligned to the Functional Requirements and uses document templates that meet SDLC standards.

  • Identify and manage dependencies and downstream impacts of the project to minimize adverse effects on other projects and / or programs.

  • Manage day to day technical challenges and communicate to project manager any risks or issues associated with the development activities.

  • Assist Project manager with the estimation of technical timelines and allocation of the technical resources to specific task

  • Coordinate coding and unit testing phases of system development and facilitate Code Reviews

  • Identify opportunities for system reuse and system simplification

  • Communicate Expectations, Roles and Responsibilities to team members and hold them accountable to meet the expectations

  • Collaborate with IT partners to devise capacity plan and ensure appropriate infrastructure for the end to end system delivery

Qualifications

  • 5 Years Required; 7 Years Preferred

  • University (Degree), Bachelor's

Required Skills:

  • ​Must have Java/J2EE application design and development experience

  • Database, ERD and SQL (Oracle is preferred)

  • Web Service working experience (SOAP/ REST/ WSDL/ XML/JSON)

  • Development tools (Eclipse / SOAPUI /JUNIT)

  • Windows and Linux operating systems

  • GitLab, or similar code management tools

  • Experience with Tomcat or Docker and Openshift

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with Enterprise Systems Design & Architecture

  • Message brokers and JMS (MQ / Kafka)

  • Hands-on experience with ETL, Batch, and stored procedures

  • SDLC, Agile methodologies and Project Management

  • Cybersecurity & Enterprise Security Practices

  • Performance Testing experience

  • UI web development

Potential Salary: $142,100.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
