Nuveen Investments VP, Manager, Middle Office Technology in Charlotte, North Carolina

Lead Development Manager

The Nuveen Middle Office Technology team is seeking an experienced Manager to lead a team providing world-class delivery on all Nuveen Middle Office Technology applications and processes. A suitable candidate would be someone who is extremely customer focused, who could multi-task and utilize both written & verbal communication skills to help resolve a diverse range of complex technical issues, and possesses domain knowledge of Investment Management with a focus on Middle Office/Operations.

Investment Management Business areas supported include Corporate Actions, Trade Operations, Portfolio Accounting, Pricing, Collateral Management, and Derivatives Trade workflow. Business and Operational knowledge of Equities, Futures, Forwards, Options, OTC and Cleared Swaps, Mutual Funds, Structured Products, ETF, Fixed Income Securities and Alternative Investments like Private Equity & Hedge Funds is a must. Working knowledge of the Charles River and Murex OMS trade interface with Eagle STAR for the asset classes above is a plus. Also desirable would be direct experience working with external financial market data vendors like Bloomberg, IDC, S&P, Reuters, & FACTSET.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • The right person will be highly technical, analytical, and have experience managing technical teams composted of business analysts, technical leads and developers. In addition, this person will have a record of driving project teams to launch new funds, small to medium sized projects or enhancements across Fixed Income, Equities and Derivative asset classes.

  • Liaise closely with all Front & Back Office operations and technology application teams to manage business and Eagle application functional requirement documents and design specifications for both BAU, small and mediumenterprise level projects.

  • Ownership of applications controls.

  • Escalate within SLA window.

  • Improve efficiency by reviewing patterns and identify opportunities for automation.

  • Standardization of tools, processes, reporting across support to drive transparency, efficiency and agility.

  • Collaborate to manage tech debt and security vulnerabilities including patching.

  • Collaborate on application End-of-Life retirement.

  • 5 Years Required; 7 Years Preferred

  • University (Degree), Preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 5 or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in production support

  • Experience with Corporate Action, Trade Processing, Portfolio Performance, Portfolio Accounting, Pricing and Reference Data management business concepts are required with BNY Mellon Eagle product suite.

  • Experience with ITIL freamwork and technical controls

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematical Finance, Accounting, Math or related technical area.

  • Excellent written and Verbal communication skills

  • Strong Leadership Skills, Business Analysis, written and oral communications skills

  • Work well in a collaborative team environment across multiple locations

  • Proven capability of independent judgment and decision making where no clear precedents exist

  • Ability to follow Hybrid Project Management Methodologies using Waterfall and SCRUM across projects and programs

  • Understanding of Derivatives and Collateral Management business concepts

TRAVEL

  • Limited travel required (<5%)

Potential Salary: $155,610.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
