TIAA Home Lending Operations Closer in CHESTERFIELD, Missouri

As a part of TIAA’s Financial Solutions business, TIAA Bank, a division of TIAA, FSB, provides full-service, nationwide banking and lending services to consumer, commercial and institutional clients through a variety of channels, including online, its Florida-based financial centers and at other business offices throughout the country.

Position Summary

Responsible for preparing closing documents in a timely fashion while ensuring the loan is closing within our investor’s strict compliance guidelines.

Essential Functions

•Review file and complete pre-audit form, determining if the loan is ready to close

•Proficient use of closing software, such as Encompass, WebDigi, IDS, and Web Funds

•Accountable for catching any clerical or system errors made in the loan package or in calculating the payoff

•Assure that all underwriting conditions are met prior to sending out closing packages

•Timely delivery of closing packages to settlement agent

•Must interact with settlement agents, customers, loan officers, and processors daily

•Prepare, review, and approve the HUD/Closing Disclosure, ensuring it meets the underwriting guidelines

•Communicate and resolve issues with closing agents while the borrowers are at closing

•Complete pre-funding audit on each file prior to disbursement

•Responsible for knowing and understanding how to fund loans

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Good organizational and time management skills

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Basic knowledge of agency and underwriting guidelines

•Strong analytical and problem solving skills

•Basic knowledge of accounting principles such as debiting and crediting

•Knowledge of FHA, Fannie Mae, HELOC, USDA, and Freddie Mac guidelines

•Must have the ability to meet sudden deadlines

•Must be multi-task oriented

•Must have excellent PC Skills

•Knowledge of closing practices, mortgage documentation, recording practices, title/abstract legalities

•Some formal underwriting or processing experience is a plus

•Knowledge of lending guidelines for all states is a plus

•Knowledge of how to use MSP


•High school diploma or equivalent

•2 years mortgage closing or funding experience required
