TIAA Internal Audit Manager - PPG Quality Assurance in Chicago, Illinois

The Internal Audit Manager, Professional Practices, manages and leads the Department’s quality assurance improvement program (QAIP) that reviews and provides timely feedback and training for the Department’s various work products. This role will also support the Department’s strategic augmentation of advisory services projects and be expected to provide real-time and after-the-fact quality assurance / methodology guidance to the teams delivering these projects.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manages the planning and execution of quality initiatives and reviews across the Internal Audit function.

  • Lead QAIP initiatives on information technology-based audit and advisory projects.

  • Coordinate the Department training program, including providing timely training on TIAA Internal Audit Methodology updates and areas for improvement identified through the Quality Assurance Review (QAR) process.

  • May assist with leading Internal Audit operations activities, such as the Annual Audit Risk Assessment, Annual Audit Plan, Audit Committee documentation, Scorecard and Dashboard reporting, metrics, regulator requests, department-wide training initiatives, and Management Action Plans.

  • Proactively monitoring for changes to industry and regulatory requirements, guidance, and pronouncements and provides expertise and guidance in the International Professional Practices Framework of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, controls frameworks, large bank holding company operations audit standards, and FRBB, OCC and other regulatory agencies.

  • The Internal Audit Manager leads and performs internal assessments of the Internal Audit program.The internal assessments include:

  • Review of completed audit and advisory projects, closed audit issues and management action plans, risk assessment results, and continuous monitoring activities for conformance with the Department Charter, the TIAA Internal Audit Methodology, the IIA Standards, and regulatory expectations.

  • Effective challenge of Audit Team risk identification, scope of work, and adequacy of testing approach and related communication and reporting of QAR results..

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Work Experience

  • 5+ Years Required; 7+ Years Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • CPA required Or

  • CIA required Or

  • Chartered Accountant required

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years Internal Audit experience or experience supporting risk and control field.

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Chartered Accountant Certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Technology highly preferred.

  • Experience with technology-based audit and advisory projects with relevant certifications (e.g., CISA or CISSP).

  • Experience with Internal Audit in Financial Services

  • Strong presentation and relationship management skills are essential. Must be an effective communicator, both orally and in writing.

Potential Salary: $140,000.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
