TIAA SMA Trading Assistant in CHICAGO, Illinois

SUMMARY: Support Senior Portfolio Risk Analyst, SMA Traders and SMA Portfolio Managers with determining Initial liquidation, representing the investment team with various Compliance activities,acting as a liaison between the Investment team and Compliance, Operations, IT and other business partners. This positon will also serve as a back-up to the Portfolio Management Assistants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive

  • Identify and sell legacy client securities that do not fit chosen NAM strategy.

  • Document exceptions on proprietary Compliance database.

  • Communicate with Compliance Dept. on account and security level situations.

  • Work with investment team members to rectify outstanding violations.

  • Support SMA Traders and Portfolio Managers with various initiatives/activities such as trade entering, building bid-wanted lists on Bloomberg, TMCC and possible other services, phone and electronic communications with our dealer network, running management reports, etc.

  • The SMA Trading Assistant will be expected to use Bloomberg, Ework, Perform, etc., but prior experience with these systems is not required.

  • Approximately 25% to 40% of the role includes administrative and clerical duties (depending on the daily volume of activity) such as distributing daily yield curve sheets, running daily trade reports, scanning and filing daily trade reports, preparing various customized portfolio reports for Portfolio Managers, etc.

  • The role includes a very high volume of trade entry and other activities that require great attention to detail.Organization and communication skills are very important for this role.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years of experience. Some experience with SMAs,Compliance,Operations or municipal bonds would be beneficial, but not required.

INTERPERSONAL/COMMUNICATION/LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills that will be utilized across both internal and external partners and colleagues.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

MATHEMATICAL/ANALYTICAL/REASONING SKILLS:

  1. Strong knowledge of SMAs,Compliance, Operations and/or municipal bonds.

  2. Detail orientation and strongproblem-solving skills.

  3. Ability to organize andprioritize competing priorities to meet daily and periodic deadlines.

  4. Working knowledge of MicrosoftSuite products.

  5. Experience with Bloombergpreferred, or the ability to quickly learn and develop Bloomberg skills

  6. Working knowledge of APL, K2,and Perform preferred, or the ability to learn and develop knowledge andskills
