Nuveen Investments Sr. Analyst, Asset Management Investment Reconciliation - Nuveen in Chicago, Illinois
The Senior Analyst, Asset Management Investment Reconciliation job ensures that all cash and position data (including equities, fixed income, and over-the-counter derivative positions) is accurate for processes including investment management, analytics, compliance, and regulatory. Under moderate supervision, this job ensures the investment book of record is reconciled with external prime record holders daily.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Ensures reconciliations are successfully completed and troubleshoots any routine and non-routine discrepancies.
Reviews cash and asset position exceptions daily including researching differences and resolving them in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensures accuracy of published cash figures.
Works with internal/external stakeholders to ensure issues are being appropriately reviewed and progressing to completion.
Identifies and coordinates escalation of priority issues.
Participates in all team meetings including review of key risk and process indicators.
Understands and adheres to all regulatory requirements impacting the reconciliation process.
Maintains accurate process documents for reconciliation processes.

The primary responsibility of the position is timely and accurate reconciliation of complex accounts across multiple business lines including accounts with foreign balances, derivatives, and senior loans. Ensure overall quality and accuracy of assigned processes as well as the preparation of ad hoc statistical reports.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform daily reconciliations and research to ensure discrepancies are resolved in a timely basis and interface with custodians and other external parties to identify root cause of exceptions
Cross-train, support and mentor Portfolio Analysts in the following areas: analysis and problem solving, flexibility in a changing environment, and notification and escalation
Respond to numerous ad hoc requests from internal and external clients to ensure timely and accurate responses
Continuously seek opportunities to improve existing workflows and processes both within Portfolio Accounting and with other Global Investment Operational teams
Assist in testing updates to Reconciliation Tool and Investment System
Ability to think on your feet to address a variety of complex issues arising daily while maintaining attention to detail. Must be able to identify patterns, evaluate problems with an open mind, and think creatively and collaboratively
In depth knowledge of the lifecycle of various securities not limited to equities, fixed income, mutual funds, derivatives as well as an understanding of how the different areas of Investment Operations work together as one team to meet goals
Possess a good understanding of the variety of Nuveen/TIAA Investment products offered to the market as well as who the closest competitors are in our space and understand what sets us apart. Strong understanding of financial securities and markets, real estate operations and accounting
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Portfolio Accounting, Fund Administration, Reconciliation, Financial Services
Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel
University Degree preferred
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Potential Salary: $36.54 USD
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
