Tax Management

The Tax Management job manages the organizational tax reporting, tax planning, and compliance function of the company. This job supervises professional level employees who are responsible for the calculation of tax liabilities, tax form preparation, and external filing/reporting. This job also oversees junior employees' work in tax research, compliance, analysis, and tax communications with federal and state agencies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Implements the organization's tax strategy to optimize the amount of tax the company pays and ensure it complies with all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations.

  • Oversees the completion of accurate tax returns to minimize the tax obligations of the organization.

  • Analyzes the general ledger and related financial documents to ensure appropriate tax accounting is being performed.

  • Coordinates tax-specific transaction recording and maintenance for records such as tax journals, capital expenditure details required for tax calculations, tax depreciation schedules, etc.

  • Keeps up to date with and advises others of organization-related tax regulations at the federal, state and local levels.

  • Ensures accounting policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports.

  • Manages performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional products and engagement, motivation, and development of team.

This position is open across the US and preferred work locations include but not limited to the following: Charlotte, NC or Chicago, IL.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for coordinating preparation and review of corporation and partnership federal and state tax returns

  • Assists with U.S. international tax compliance through preparing calculations, workpapers, and forms.

  • Assists in maintaining key entity attributes such as stock basis and earnings and profits.

  • Maintains and updates federal and international tax models, and tax analysis of proposed restructurings and transactions.

  • Prepares and reviews tax provision calculations and related income tax footnotes for various blocker and corporate entities

  • Preparation and coordination of tax financial statement internal controls processes, including monitoring, assessing, measuring, and documenting uncertain tax positions in accordance with GAAP accounting principles

  • Support federal and state audit activities, including responding to information document requests

  • Research technical tax matters and prepare memoranda to document conclusions.

  • Management and review of vendor work product and tax staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax compliance and financial reporting deadlines

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years corporate or partnership tax experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 years corporate or partnership tax experience

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Masters degree in Tax

Minimum Pay: $76,200.00
