VP, SMA Investment Operations Lead

Within Nuveen, Retail Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) Operations is responsible for the administration of 60,000 individual client accounts and over $70 billion of assets.
The VP, Separately Managed Account Investment Operations Lead, will help support and grow Nuveen’s Separately Managed Accounts Platform by implementing strategic initiatives, collaborating with internal and external partners, and driving key projects. The successful candidate will have experience in change management, program management and the ability to drive change that is aligned to our business values and goals. A deep knowledge of the SMA industry practices and providers, and a passion for working across departments to identify, prioritize and execute initiatives that improve the client experience, scale and efficiency of the business is critical for this role.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Accountable for identifying, leading and implementing strategic cross-functional initiatives
Thought leadership partner to stakeholders/functional leaders helping to frame, size and shape change initiatives that cut across business functions with internal Operations teams and the broader organization
Support internal efforts to instill a consistent change management approach, embedding strategic thinking, controls and a sustained operating discipline
Ensure timeliness, requirements, prioritization, and execution of key deliverables across Operations; strong collaboration with our technology partners
Interact and partner with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of testing and communication of the program initiatives
Implements process improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, define the right measures of operational risk
Ensure alignment of Service Level Agreement goals and developing/monitoring of operational KPI’s
Identify and monitor risks and challenges in execution, work with impacted stakeholders to mitigate risk, identify barriers and develop strategies to remediate.
Strong collaboration with technology partners

Required Qualifications:
5+ years business support experience, including change management and operations experience
Experience with fixed income and equity securities
Experience working with financial regulations and operational risk and controls in accordance with policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building relationships and taking appropriate action to gain cooperation, establish rapport and building consensus.
Retail SMA Industry experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to deal with complex operational issues, including resolution with key stakeholders.
Exceptional and effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners, clients, and financial advisor firms.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field with at least 5 years of experience and working knowledge of the Managed Accounts (platforms, clients, advisors) business, including client service, product and/or operational experience (account servicing) within the asset management industry.
Service oriented, client-focused, consultative philosophy.
Teamwork mentality, and ability to develop, engage with and maintain effective teams
Champion new initiatives, including leading cross-departmental coordination to present ideas and implement solutions.
Adaptable to work in an ever-changing, multi-tasked environment with high priorities, varying workloads, and deadlines.
Ability to optimize use of technology, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Base Pay Range: $144,900/yr - $194,000/yr
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
