TIAA Network Security Manager in Dallas, Texas

Network Security Manager

TIAA is seeking a Network Security Manager. This role with be a part of the Global Infrastructure Services (GIS) team. This team has responsibility for all architecture, engineering, and infrastructure operations for our core technology assets. This is part of a streamlined, strategic approach that ensures low-cost, high-quality delivery from initial architectural decisions through engineering to long-term operational support. The GIS team collaborates closely with our business-aligned partners in technology and with key stakeholders across the enterprise.

As the Network Security Manager, you will manage a team in the implementation and life cycle of strategic infrastructure technologies, responsible for the firm’s network security including firewalls, proxy services, Internet access, remote access, and encryption management. You will map out strategies to stabilize infrastructure, baseline unit costs and develop plans to manage unit expenses. Additionally, you will mentor and train staff, lead and collaborate on projects and support teams to implement modern technologies that ensure ongoing adequate and sustainable network security support.

As the Network Security Manager, you will also own the service levels for network security technologies across the enterprise and be accountable for achieving agreed-upon goals and service level agreements. You will oversee and provide 2nd level on-call support for complex production impacting technical issues and work to troubleshoot and restore services that drive meaningful root cause analysis and actions to prevent future incidents.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee a team of Engineers who perform network security technologies engineering functions that include talent management, performance reviews, compliance tracking, entitlement reviews, etc.

  • Lead financial, projects, and operations of governance meetings.

  • Manage contractual and financial disputes.

  • Oversee, approve, and accountable for all network delivery engineering in the network security technology environment.

  • Identify, evaluate, and design future network security products based on business demands and technology direction.

  • Introduce and apply best practices for network design and enterprise business solutions.

  • Lead problem management and resolution in the support of deployed technology and function as a subject matter expert on high severity production outages.

  • Accountable for network standards, baselines, and solutions engineering.

  • Evaluate and approve technical standards for network infrastructure, security baselines, policies and procedures.

  • Identify, design and implement flexible, responsive, and secure technology services.

  • Research and evaluate infrastructure strategies, hardware/software, security and networking products.

  • Advise management of options, risk vs. cost, benefits and other impacts of infrastructure solutions.

  • Ensure infrastructure support policies and guidelines are in place and current.

  • Monitor trends and recommend future architecture strategies and roadmaps.

  • Educate and mentor technology support staff as needed, including requisite training on technology and governance.

  • Engage in complex production impacting technical issues and work to troubleshoot and restore service.

  • Engage with partner teams to develop optimal business solutions based on standard designs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Five or more years of technology infrastructure systems and/or engineering experience.

  • Five or more years of networking engineering experience.

  • Experience and expertise in network security technologies including Palo Alto Firewalls, Remote Access VPN Services, Zscaler Security Zero-Trust Services, Cisco ISE, and Vulnerability Management

  • Experience working for a financial services company.

  • Three or more years of experience managing a team of senior level engineers.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer or information science or engineering.

  • Ten years or more of technology infrastructure systems and/or engineering experience.

  • Understand application development and lifecycle concepts.

  • Possess application and network troubleshooting skills.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting data system architectures and implementing related solutions.

  • Experience creating, troubleshooting, and supporting multi-site, multi-tier system environments, and corporate data center facilities.

  • Understanding of application development languages, application design and software development lifecycles.

  • Knowledge of data and voice network technologies.

  • Understanding of Information Security practices including standards, risk, and compliance management.

  • Knowledge of the routed network as well as server build processes.

  • Possess understanding of networking protocols.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (i.e. AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Experience using Jira.

  • Project Management experience.

  • Experience with project run rate calculations.

  • Possess verbal and written communication skills.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.

Base Pay Range: $111,700/yr. - $154,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
