TIAA Paralegal - Product Tax Law in Denver, Colorado

This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker Role providing services for TIAA’s family of companies and will be employed by TIAA's preferred 3rd Party Supplier. As a Non-Employee CW, perform a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results.

This role will sit onsite, likely in a hybrid capacity, at the location(s) listed in this posting.

The anticipated term of this engagement will be 8 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs.

CW-Paralegal II

Assists corporate attorneys and paralegal manager with legal tasks and activities to support and protect the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assisting corporate legal attorneys in resolving routine legal issues by providing administrative support.

  • Conducting legal tasks, such as research and drafting, under the supervision of corporate legal attorneys.

  • Maintaining repositories of legal documentation and databases.

  • Collecting law sources for attorneys such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes for preparation of legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, etc.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

CW-Paralegal - Product Tax Law

Assists corporate attorneys and paralegal manager with legal tasks and activities to support and protect the organization.

  • Must be very detail oriented and organized to deal with a large volume of documents

  • Self-starter but willing to follow instruction

  • Assist product tax attorneys with managing the revision of a large volume of participant forms for compliance with new laws

  • An understanding of financial services and retirement plans is desired but not necessary if quick to pick up on new projects

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Focus will be on assisting product tax attorneys with the review of SECURE and SECURE 2.0 legislation and related IRS guidance.

  • Review and revision of participant forms in pdf for changes in law.

  • Assisting corporate legal attorneys in resolving routine legal issues by providing administrative support.

  • Conducting legal tasks, such as research and drafting, under the supervision of corporate legal attorneys.

  • Maintaining repositories of legal documentation and databases.

  • Collecting law sources for attorneys such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes for preparation of legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, etc.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

Work Experience

  • 2+ Years Required; 3+ Years Preferred

  • Paralegal experience preferred; will consider increased years of legal drafting experience over specific paralegal experience

  • Background in retirement benefits or financial services preferred but not required

  • Must have experience with drafting and redlining, preferred drafting of detailed business transactional documents

Potential Salary: $53.75 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
