TIAA Unified Communications Engineer - UCaaS & iDAS in Frisco, Texas

Currently our Global Infrastructure Services Enterprise User Services organization has an opportunity for a Telecommunications/DevOps Technology Engineer. This role will focus on both DevOps and Telecommunications Engineering. This position will generate conceptual, logical, and physical design documents, testing analyses/plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and risk assessments to ensure sound designs that meets business needs. This position will collaborate with numerous stakeholders across our enterprise on the development, IT operations, quality engineering, security, automation, and telecommunication systems. In addition, will support the Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) tools (i.e., Zoom Phone (cloud-based phone system) and perform operational tasks for both mobile and audio communication systems that includes indoor Distributed Antenna System (iDAS).

The ideal candidate will automate operations and service management process workflows by performing scripting. This includes script design, build, and lifecycle management using PowerShell, Python, and RESTful API. Furthermore, provide consultation to senior level stakeholders on options, risk vs. cost, benefits, and other impacts of infrastructure solutions. Acts in a lead role in leveraging applicable best practices for design and enterprise business solutions.

It is critical that we have SMEs on this team to collaborate closely with our project teams and vendors to ensure that the objectives of stability and scalability are understood by current projects, operations, and future initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Works with various vendor solutions and designs new services to integrate with new and existing client environments.

  • Uses proven technologies to develop solution sets to expand services across client base.

  • Conduct design assessments to validate enterprise baseline and provide context for future network direction.

  • Identifies, evaluates, and designs future IT services based on business demands and technology direction.

  • Automate operations and service management process workflows.

  • Build support dashboards that integrate with multiple data sources and data access methods.

  • Perform scripting including script design, build, and lifecycle management using PowerShell, Python, and RESTful API.

  • Utilize Cyber DLP, IAM, VPN, Proxy, and Certificate management methods in delivery of enterprise communication services.

  • Manage ServiceNow for Change, Incident, Request, Problem management and CMDB inventory.

  • Participate in project support for high- and low-level design cost estimations, SDCL processes, and Agile methodology.

  • Identify, design, and implement flexible, responsive, and secure technology services.

  • Perform research and evaluate infrastructure strategies, hardware/software, security, networking products and best practices.

  • Provide consultation to management on options, risk vs. cost, benefits, and other impacts of infrastructure solutions.

  • Establish technical standards for network infrastructure, security baselines, policies, and procedures.

  • Develop and document infrastructure support policies and guidelines.

  • Monitor trends and recommend future architecture strategies and roadmaps.

  • Educate and mentor IT support staff as needed, including requisite training on technology and governance.

  • Collaborate with outsource vendors to drive sound architectures, engineering designs, and configuration templates.

  • Engage in complex production impacting technical issues and work to troubleshoot and restore service.

  • Acts in a lead role in leveraging applicable best practices for design and enterprise business solutions.

  • Leads problem management and resolution in the support of deployed technology and acts as subject matter expert on high severity production outages.

  • Provide 24/7 Tier-3 on-call (schedule is rotated)

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Qualifications:

Required:

· Minimum of 3 years of DevOps engineering experience. This includes coding and scripting languages such as Python, or Bash, or PowerShell.

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience using automation tools.

· Experience supporting UCaaS cloud-based telephony system.

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting critical IT communications such

as iDAS.

· Ability to provide 24/7 Tier-3 on-call.

Preferred:

· Ability to articulate technical expertise to peers and leadership team.

· Ability to collaborate with a team to build the best possible solution.

· Possess a strong understanding of communication systems user experience

such as Zoom and others.

· Ability to troubleshoot communications systems and components.

· Demonstrated experience designing architectures and implementing related

solutions.

· Experience creating, troubleshooting, and supporting multi-site, hybrid

(private/public Cloud, on-prem infrastructure) environments, in and outside of

the corporate Data Center facilities.

Base Pay Range: $94,500/yr. - $163,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
