Global Client Services covers Client Services, Private Fund Services, Shareholder Services, Client Transitions, Client Reporting, New Business & Retention Services (a.k.a. RFP), and Business Transformation, and is involved in nearly every facet of the client life cycle. The GCS strategy is to build a global, scalable client service and content delivery platform to keep pace with the growth of the business, to drive better win and retention rates, provide timely and built-for purpose client and regulatory reporting, and deliver a seamless client experience.

Role Summary

The Head of EMEA Client Services (“EMEA Head”) is responsible for delivering centralized and scalable support of institutional and retail clients in EMEA. The EMEA Head partners with colleagues in Sales, Product, Marketing, Technology, Operations and Investments to offer clients an exceptional client experience.

Reporting to the Head of Global Client Services, the EMEA Head oversees region-specific Client Services and Private Fund Services teams responsible for meeting the day to day needs of Nuveen’s EMEA clients. With team members currently based in London and Frankfurt, the Head is responsible for building the team in line with the growth of the business and for determining how and when to expand its current EMEA footprint.


  • Lead the transition from a real estate-dominated servicing platform to a platform that caters to a well-diversified book of business across real estate, real assets, private credit and equity, and traditional asset classes, all the while ensuring exceptional service to clients.

  • Execute on the GCS strategy, ensuring key initiatives meet the needs of EMEA clients and driving adoption of critical process and technology changes. Current key initiatives include: digitizing and automating client processes through workflow enablement, capitalizing on data infrastructure opportunities and improving client information delivery capabilities.

  • Build servicing capabilities—resources, expertise, tools—to meet the needs of Nuveen’s growing EMEA retail business, in conjunction with Distribution and Product.

  • Identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement in processes and technology across all areas of responsibility, and partner with Business Transformation to prioritize and implement changes.

  • Represent GCS in the region, communicating key priorities, reinforcing advocacy for the strategy, and delivering updates to regional leadership, as needed.

  • Establish close partnerships with global and regional leaders across functions to ensure open, candid and direct dialogue regarding our ability to deliver exceptional client service.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage GCS India to best support EMEA clients


  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the investment management industry

  • MBA, CFA, CAIA preferred

  • Experience in global distribution or client service – with a particular focus on institutional asset managers -- and a strong operational mind-set and approach

  • Excellent end-to-end generalist problem solving skills and ability to identify issues and analyses – ability to think and plan strategically and act tactically

  • Strong executive presence, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work across multiple teams and platforms in a matrixed organization

  • Strong internal and external client service orientation
