The Sr Data Engineer role based in London will be part of the global Client reporting technology team and work closely with the Client Reporting team in USA, India and with business teams in EMEA. The role holder is expected to have strong asset management background and understand the data domains and intricacies and pick up any nuances quickly and establish himself / herself as a data expert who can get into the complexities of the various data issues.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Act as a liaison between the business stakeholders and IT developers to design data products and reporting solutions translating business needs and achieving Nuveen’s strategic business outcomes using data.

• Design, implement, and maintain ETL (Extract Transform Load) processes, procedures, and policies in support of our data operations, ensuring performance, reliability, consistency, and implementing/improving Data Flow transformations.

• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) and working familiarity with various databases.

• Facilitate and work with teams to quickly identify, debug, and resolve technical project challenges.

• Work closely with Data Architects and various system stakeholders to develop and maintain data models and definitions- Familiarity with data modeling – Star/Snow-flake schemas

• Perform root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Be involved in project initiatives to drive alignment to our data principles and standards.

• Utilize ad-hoc techniques to perform on-the-fly analysis of data.

• Experience with database synchronization, incremental/periodic data reload processes, data cleansing, database audit logs and metadata management.

Technical Skills & Experience

Required:

• 7+ years of experience in ETL or Data Engineering development and or Data analysis

• 5+ years of experience of working with SQL related technologies like SQL Server, SSIS/SSDT,DataStage, C#, and .NET technologies or equivalent.

• 5+ years of experience in designing and developing Data Pipelines for Data Ingestion or Transformation using AWS (Amazon Web Services)data technologies like Glue, S3, Athena.

• Experience with DevOps toolchain CI/CD processes/tools - Gitlab, Jenkins, Electric Flow.

• Experience in the Asset Management Industry is highly desirable.

Preferred:

• Experience in Snowflake

• 3+ years of experience with release management and support cloud applications

• Experience with design and development of AWS services with high performance and scalability (e.g., Analytics, Integration, Compute, Container, Content Delivery, Storage)

• Knowledge of AWS Cloud Data Ingestion Patterns and Practices Experience with DevOps toolchain that enables CI/CD pipeline (e.g., Gitlab, Terraform, Electric Flow, Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins)

• Experience with development against non-relational database (e.g., key-value store, columnar store, graph database)

• 3+ years’ experience with AWS Glue, AWS Data Brew, NoSQL server, SQL Server query experience, AWS Informatica for Relational Database Service (RDS) and the Cloud
