Overview of the Role:
The VP of Responsible Investment (RI) Strategy is a key role leading the responsible investing research and thought leadership programme across the firm, leveraging deep market expertise and understanding of client needs. The ideal candidate will be a regarded expert in Responsible Investing investment topics with a proven ability to innovate, communicate, influence and engage with key stakeholders internally and externally.
Key responsibilities will include:
Lead the development and implementation of Nuveen’s positioning and global RI thought leadership strategy and ensure alignment/coordination with key stakeholders in Investment, Global Client Group and Marketing and Communications.
Identifytimely and relevant areas for establishing Nuveen’s thought leadership content as well as strategic areas to “own” Conduct in-depth research and analysis on ESG sustainability trends, policies, and best practices to inform our investment processes and client engagement strategies across Nuveen’s platform.
Engage clients directly on the research to develop commercial opportunities in collaboration with the Global Client Group and Investment teams.
Create content for clear, compelling client-facing and public-facing collateral centered around audience/client channel needs and interests, including reports, white papers, articles, and presentations to showcase our capabilities and expertise.
Provide ongoing client feedbackacross key client channels on emerging RI issues and topics.
Partner with key stakeholder including government agencies, academia, and interest groups to translate client considerations into actionable insights that advance Nuveen’s positioning and expertise in the market.
Support commercial efforts including due diligence, sales and marketing needse.g., concept building, creating presentation materials and conducting data analysis in response to prospective client questions.
Drive the ongoing development and improvement of Nuveen’s sustainability and award-winning impact reporting architecture across the firm, asset class and fund level.
Provide subject matter expertise across a broad range of sustainability topics
Engage clients and specialized industry working groups on key topics e.g., net zero and nature positive investing as well as thematic areas to enhance Nuveen’s market position and ability to meet/anticipate our clients’ needs for solutions related to these topics
Qualifications & Experience Required
Advanced degree (MBA) preferred; CFA or other industry accreditation
Minimum 10 years experience investment management, preferably with a global asset manager, asset owner or consulting organization
Competencies Required
Demonstrated sustainable investing and thought leadership expertise
Strong leadership skills and experience with demonstrated ability to influence and execute across functions
Understanding of client needs
Ability to innovate and execute
Excellent communication skills
