Nuveen Investments Fund Finance, Assistant Finance Manager, Real Estate, Europe, Based in Luxembourg in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

This newly created role is the result of the launch of a new Luxembourg Fund. The Fund is a closed-end investment vehicle targeting value-add returns by focusing on active asset management and cyclical opportunities across all real estate sectors in certain prescribed countries in Europe, with sustainability, technology and structural change embedded in its investment philosophy. The direct reporting line for this role will be to a Finance Manager who will manage the Fund, is based in London and will be taking an active role in the management, supervision, and oversight. Close working relationships will also be required with other team members in London, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, and Luxembourg, together with our service providers across Europe. You will assist in the performance of the day-to-day financial management of the Fund. There will also be an opportunity to work on other funds, depending what the business requires.

The accounting and pricing of the fund will be carried out by an external service provider, with the Finance Manager providing oversight. As well as overseeing the pricing and accounting, the team will focus on value-add tasks such as implementation and establishing of robust and efficient processes, formulating hedging and cash flow management policies, managing internal and external client relationships and negotiating debt and monitoring the associated compliance and covenants. The Assistant Finance Manager will play an important part in all of these activities when required.

Occasional European travel may be required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist in the review of the Funds quarterly consolidation and net asset value calculation under IFRS and INREV principles. Provide key information in a timely manner to the Fund’s external service provider and assist with the review process.

  • Assist in the review of quarterly finance packs prepared by external service providers

  • Assist in the provision of financial information to internal and external clients and assistance in preparing quarterly fund board and investor reporting

  • Support with quarterly cash extraction process for the Funds.

  • Assist in the review of all tax returns prepared by our service provider


  • Assisting in the year-end audit process where applicable for the Funds

  • Support with the review and filing of annual statutory financial statements under local GAAP /IFRS at Fund and local level

  • Support the review of any yearly tax returns prepared by our outsourced provider


  • Liaising with property managers and third-party debt providers to ensure timely, quality financial deliverables and covenants adhered to

  • Assist the Transaction Structuring and portfolio management teams in the due diligence, negotiation and implementation of structures for new asset acquisitions when required

  • To provide the Depositary, from time to time, with information that they require on the Fund to meet their obligations

  • To develop strong relationships and interact with our external service providers (auditors, local external service providers, depositary, legal advisors)

  • Ad hoc projects for both the Fund and wider business from time to time

  • Day to day accounting tasks including AP management (coding invoices and cash management)

  • Liaising with all parts of Nuveen Real Estate as appropriate to ensure that all financial and operational matters are dealt with and managed efficiently

  • Provide support to the Director of Real Estate Fund Finance, Senior Finance Manager, Finance Manager , Company Secretary and other team members

  • Provide external service providers with intercompany loan documentation to review calculation and booking of intercompany transactions and settlement of quarterly interest and balances.

  • Be responsible for the Tax, VAT and CIS compliance for various entities on a frequent basis

  • Ensure that the Entity Monitoring System is up to date

  • Assist on other smaller Funds and JVs within the wider team when required

Technical Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Qualified/part qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)

  • Advanced Excel skillsÂ

  • Knowledge of IFRS

  • Strong IT systems skills, including MRI (or similar)

  • Real estate funds experience preferable

  • Ability to review and interpret fund and legal documentation
