The role is responsible for managing the voice and data network infrastructure of an organization (own organization or client) and providing support for all the network related problems.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • They are primarily responsible to manage LAN/WAN and provide three tier support for the same.

  • They are engaged in configuration of Core, Distribution and Access layers (Cisco based) switches and routers and other network devices like Hubs and LTS, supporting VOIP switches and servers and in the implementation of leased lines, ISDN lines etc.

Job Title: Senior Voice Engineer (Avaya to Zoom Migration Specialist)

Location: Mumbai

Position Type: Full-Time

Working Hours: 9hrs 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), with occasional weekend work as required.

Job Description:

The Senior Collaboration Technology Engineer (Voice and Video Conferencing) will play a critical role in managing, optimizing, and migrating our voice infrastructure from Avaya to Zoom. This position requires a deep understanding of both platforms and a proven track record in managing similar migrations. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting our voice systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Migration Planning and Execution:

  • Lead the migration of the company’s voice infrastructure from Avaya to Zoom, including planning, designing, and implementing the transition.

  • Develop detailed migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk assessments, and contingency strategies.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to business operations.

  • Voice Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Understand business requirements for the various call flows and design / evaluate a solution and conduct a Proof-Of-Concept for the same. Document the results and share the evaluation results and recommendations post the completion of the exercise.

  • Design, configure, and deploy Zoom Voice solutions to align with organizational requirements and best practices.

  • Ensure seamless integration of Zoom Voice with other communication tools and enterprise applications.

  • Maintain and update Avaya systems during the transition period to ensure continuity and reliability.

  • Operational Support:

  • Provide support for both Avaya and Zoom systems, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.

  • Monitor the performance of voice networks, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.

  • Implement security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards / Regulatory requirements for both Avaya and Zoom environments.

This role has requirements to support video conferencing setup as well from a Zoom System standpoint which includes – configuration of codecs, hardening of devices, upgrades, monitoring calls etc.

  • Engineering and Optimization:

  • Analyze voice network traffic and performance data to identify areas for optimization and cost savings.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve voice network performance during and after the migration.

  • Lead voice infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, expansions, and enhancements.

  • Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, network engineers, and support staff, to deliver a unified communication experience.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.

  • Act as the primary liaison with vendors and service providers for Avaya and Zoom voice solutions.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all phases of the migration, including design, implementation, and support procedures.

  • Generate regular reports on migration progress, voice network performance, and post-migration optimization.

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the new Zoom voice infrastructure.

  • Occasional Weekend Work:

  • Be available to work on weekends as needed to perform migrations, upgrades, or respond to critical incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in voice engineering, with extensive experience in both Avaya and Zoom platforms.

  • Proven experience leading voice infrastructure migrations, particularly from Avaya to Zoom.

  • Strong knowledge of Avaya Communication Manager, Avaya Aura, Zoom – voice and VC, H323, SIP, VoIP, and related technologies.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a strong understanding of voice network protocols and standards.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.

  • Relevant certifications such as Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist (ACIS), Avaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS), or Zoom Phone Certification are highly desirable.
