Associate Director, CPACE Credit

The Associate Director, CPACE Credit plays a key role in building the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing business's balance sheet by leading the credit reviews of complex commercial real estate investments. The Associate Director is tasked with ensuring originations fit credit and balance sheet requirements and performs in line with our portfolio expectations. Working under limited supervision, this job is responsible for underwriting the company's largest and most complex transactions, ensuring credit issues are identified early in a loan's application and working with the deal team to find mutually workable resolutions. This job also mentors and trains Transaction Managers in underwriting.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Serves in a credit approval and advisory capacity on a broad range of C-PACE loans for the origination team.

  • Identifies and supports execution of credit solutions for deals outside of the C-PACE financing business’s standard credit box.

  • Works one-on-one with transaction managers on complex deals, providing direction, training and improving their underwriting knowledge.

  • Leads underwriting trainings and resource creation to support a rapidly expanding originations team.

  • Leads research into special topics in commercial real estate construction lending as they apply to C-PACE, culminating in underwriting guideline change recommendations.

  • Leads research and development of guidelines related to new products.

  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.

Educational Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of commercial real estate experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of commercial real estate experience in a risk-analysis position such as lending, development acquisitions, equity investments, or special servicing.

  • Experience pulling risk analysis through to investment recommendations.

  • Experience with construction and development.

  • Experience in all commercial asset types (multifamily, office, retail, hospitality, industrial, special use experience a plus).

  • Experience working on mid to large scale commercial development projects ($30MM-$100MM+).

  • Experience in special servicing or workouts.

Base Pay Range: $112,500/yr. - $187,500/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
