Principal Data Scientist
The Principal Data Scientist leads data analyses for multiple high profile projects with diverse scopes and complex business and technical challenges. A subject matter expert, this job identifies and drives improvements to the execution of teams in analytics and data science through standardization of process, authoring new innovative practices, mentorship and cultivation of expertise within the organization. This job also leads the development of data mining and data analysis methodologies to create algorithms and predictive models.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Leads development and implementation of data mining protocols, architectures, and models as well as data analysis methodologies, used to identify trends in large data sets.
Participating in the digital transformation roadmap design and development; constructing frameworks, standards and guidelines.
Approves statistical reporting, data analyses insights, and data visualizations, used to better understand client relationships and improve client services and product offerings.
Guides data exploration and analytic projects, providing continual coaching of big data topics including visualization, analytic techniques, and data mining.
Communicates insights from analyses to management in order to enable data driven decision making to improve business performance and operational outcomes based on machine learning and statistical analysis results.
Reviews the acquisition of data from structured and unstructured sources, while ensuring quality and comprehensiveness of the data.

- Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work
5+ years of quantitative analysis or data science experience in the asset management, especially in the quantitative portfolio management, risk management, statistical analysis areas.
Familiarity with portfolio construction, portfolio optimization and factor models.
Understanding of reference data/market data platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, S&P xPressFeed, Compustat, Morningstar.
Experience in ML and NLP algorithms and their use in application development.
Exposure in implementing supervised/unsupervised or deep learning models and algorithms.
Experience with Statistical/ML modelling and programming skills (Python, R, Spark, Tensorflow, SAS, Matlab, SQL, AWS)
Development experience in pricing model, indices, macroeconomic scenario generation model and developed statistical challenger models.
Understanding of alternative data sources such as news analytics, social media, satellite imagery etc.
Experience in developing investment analysis, responsible investing (ESG) research/analytics
Working experience with portfolio/quantitative analyst and technology teams to build investment solutions and strategies.
Experience with following technologies a plus
Unix Commands and utilities, AWS model development environment such as SageMaker
Ability to develop scripts (such as Python/R) for data processing, job execution and monitoring.
Experience with big data, text analytics and related tools (such as Spark, Hadoop, NLP libraries etc.)
Experience with Statistical/ML modelling and programming skills (Python, R, Spark, Java, Tensorflow, SAS, Matlab, SQL, AWS)
Experience in portfolio management, portfolio optimization, risk management, asset allocation, statistical analysis and pricing model for different asset classes.
Experience with Responsible Investing (ESG) factors is a good to have.
Experience in deep reinforcement learning that uses a Deep Q-Network or Neural Network to learn the use case.
A bachelor (or higher) in a quantitative subject such as statistics, analytical finance or computer science or engineering.
Potential Salary: $174,250.00 USD
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.Â In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).Â
