Nuveen Investments AVP, Sr Financial Writer, Investment Communications in New York, New York

The Communications/Marketing Senior Specialist job monitors the development of organizational communications for the general public, customers, employees, government agencies, and communities. While managing large projects with limited supervision, this job works with various business units to plan marketing initiatives, and develop strategies and marketing plans. This job is also responsible for creating and distributing original content to external media resources.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Reviews the writing, editing and publishing of organizational publications of the company's publications.

  • Reviews strategies for organizational initiatives, ensuring consistency of messages across all divisions and levels across the enterprise.

  • Develops communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its services.

  • Monitors external media relations and creates rapport to present a positive image of the organization to external sources.

  • Reviews external communications to ensure the accuracy of the information.

  • Coaches and delegates work to lower level communications professionals to ensure high-quality and timely completion of projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Create content for Nuveen’s global institutional and U.S. Wealth audiences across a wide variety of content types, including short/long-form articles, web content, video and event scripting, social media and email

  • Focus on working directly with the Nuveen Chief Investment Officer, other senior investors and their teams to generate regular and ad hoc investment commentaries, social media content, placed media articles, video and other script generation and talking points on behalf of our CIO/senior investors

  • Responsible for helping to coordinate content idea generation and strategy across our investment, marketing, communications, product and distribution teams

  • Draft content for regularly recurring content series including but not limited to: weekly, monthly and quarterly investment commentaries and key publication strategies

  • Create content partnerships across marketing as well as senior investment and business stakeholders across the firm

  • Lead editorial efforts for key content-driven campaigns, coordinating with marketing business partners and “coaching” where appropriate

  • Provide other business support, as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Five plus years of experience as a financial writer (experience in asset management a strong plus)

  • Five plus years of the ability to quickly master Nuveen’s systems and technology for content creation, review and approval

  • Five plus years of excellent communication (written and oral) skills

  • Five plus years of superior project management, interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Capable of juggling multiple tasks, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines

Potential Salary: $119,900.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
