Sr. VMWare Administrator

As a Sr. VMware Administrator, the candidate will support the VMware technologies in a self-service, highly automated enterprise hybrid-cloud environment. The Core VMWare Support Team within Client Services and Technology is responsible for administering VMware Operating System and Patching. Currently we are leveraging a heavily customized vRealize Automation Suite for automated deployments and management of VM’s on large-scale, hyper-converged infrastructure. In addition, the candidate will be expected to automate VMWare BAU tasks using PowerShell/PowerCLI. Understanding of Unix and Storage (SAN/NAS), AWS and Azure Cloud technologies are additional skills.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Install and maintain OS security patches on the operational system across all SDLC environments.

  • Integrate all required software and resolve all issues across various technologies and design require enterprise servers and provide back up support.

  • Develop an infrastructure to provide support to all business requirements and perform regular troubleshoot on system to resolve all issues.

  • Monitor everyday systems and evaluate availability of all server resources and perform all activities for Windows servers.

  • Strong trouble shooting skills, ability to debug OS, Hardware & Patching issues.

  • Strong Production support exposure in dealing with live issues, working under pressure, experience on high end and low latency servers.

  • Ability to collaborate and drive troubleshooting sessions with other Infrastructure, DevOPs, and AppDev teams.

  • Provides technical guidance, oversight, and mentoring to team members as a subject matter expert.

  • Conduct proactive analysis to determine if systems are performing optimally.

  • Drives problems to root cause analysis through partnership with Application Development and engineers, ensuring knowledge is captured for future events.

  • Implement and maintain OS vulnerability solutions supporting TIAA Cyber Security policies and guidelines.

  • High Availability - Possess working knowledge of Windows Clustering Services.

  • Support experience on Microsoft Clustering Technology, Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Maintain and monitor all system frameworks and provide after call support to all systems and maintain optimal Windows knowledge.

  • University (Degree) Preferred

  • 5+ years of experience as a Windows system administrator managing servers in an enterprise environment consisting of 10,000 or more servers

  • Experienced as a system administrator installing, configuring, and updating Windows OS, AWS, Public Cloud

  • Experience in PowerShell shell scripting or other programming languages

Preferred Skills

  • VMWare Certified Advanced Professional Certification

  • Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Administration

  • VDI

  • Splunk

  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration

  • HCL BigFix

  • Experience in supporting solution in public cloud or hybrid cloud environment, AWS, Azure, Google Public Cloud

  • Experience with Gitlab, Confluence

  • Certification - Microsoft, AWS, Azure, or any public cloud certification

Base Pay Range: $83,000/yr. - $138,300/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).Â
