TIAA Senior Director - Business Development, Education Savings in Pasadena, California
Business Development
The Business Development job is responsible for leading the sales efforts for the Education Savings organization by winning new 529 program management mandates and securing expanded use of proprietary investment products. The role is charged with developing and formalizing a sales opportunity pipeline, executing sales strategies against those opportunities, and establishing regular reporting on progress. The Director will partner closely with the Education Savings Relationship Management, Investments, Marketing and Operations teams, as well as Nuveen distribution and sales partners.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Leads program management mandate wins (pipeline, prospecting, RFPs,) and expanding use of our proprietary investment products (Nuveen and TC funds, TC Life Funding Agreement) across the 529 market.
Establishes and grows relationships with 529 industry platform/record keeping providers as a distribution channel for our proprietary investment products.
Lead point of contact with Nuveen distribution partners for the sales/distribution activities for the CO and MI advisor 529 plans.
Leads full RFP process for LOB for new business and contract renewals- prospecting, P/L decision model creation with Finance, response creation, follow-ups, finalist meeting prep and delivery, internal updates.
Participates in any needed product evolution/changes to the FA to improve traction with prospective partners and maintain product competitive profile based on industry feedback.
Active participant in Industry events, conferences, to advance growth objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
5+ years of financial services experience with a deep understanding of investment products and platforms
5+ years business development and/or relationship management experience in government-sponsored 529, 529A, state-facilitated retirement or similar governmental programs
FINRA Series 6 or 7; Series 63 license required within 120 days from hire date
Preferred:
7+ years of financial services experience with a deep understanding of investment products and platforms
7+ years business development and/or relationship management experience in government-sponsored 529, 529A, state-facilitated retirement or similar governmental programs
Institutional business development experience
Institutional asset management experience
NOTE: This role is hybrid flex, 3 days a week within the office locations listed below:
Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Los Angeles, CA, Pasadena, CA, Walnut Creek, CA, and NYC.

Base Pay Range: $113,700/yr. - $189,500/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
