KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Glennmont Partners is a leading clean energy infra manager with a long-standing successful track record. Over the last 10 years, Glennmont has invested in renewable power generation projects and assets in Europe. With Assets under Management of €2.0bn, Glennmont has strong experience across all technologies Offshore Wind, Onshore Wind, Solar PV and Biomass power plants. Today manages capital for around 55 institutional investors across three European equity Funds and one Credit Fund. The Funds investment strategy target a mix of capital appreciation and cash flow generative assets. Investment includes assets in operation, in construction and development projects. The team comprises around 45 FTE led by four Partners and six directors managing teams focussed on Asset Management, Investments and Credit.
Glennmont is intending to grow its business rapidly in and has a focused plan for future expansion.
Glennmont is now looking to launch in 2021 a new flagship Vintage IV Fund with a target size of Eur2.0bn. The new infraequity fund will have a global investment mandate covering Europe, Asia and North America. In order to accelerate the build-up of the two regional teams (Asia and America) Glennmont is looking to hire a seasoned investment professional responsible to lead the new Asia Office and drive the Asian investment agenda. The candidate must have direct experience in originating and executing renewable energy transactions in Asia as well as leading a small local investment and asset management team. The individual will coordinate the regional effort and respond directly to the Board located in London.
The successful candidate will lead a team of five to seven FTEs composed by investment and asset management professionals, engineers, financial controllers and staff. The role offers potential for an attractive career path in clean energy as further funds with international and local mandates will be rolled out in the coming years.
Manage the origination and execution of clean energy Asia investments in solar, wind (on and off-shore), biomass, storage, energy efficiency investments. Focus countries Japan, South Korean, Taiwan, India, APAC, (acquisition, merge and divesture) leading, manager, associates and external advisers
Oversee the production of financial models for renewable energy generation projects/assets
Supervise preparation of and defend investments proposals in the Investment Committee
Attend Investment Committee meetings
Network and manage relationships with Asian co-investors – investments may range from minority stakes alongside local investor to 100% owned deals.
Manage working relationships with external advisors (developers, lawyers, technical advisors, debt providers, EPC contractors, etc)
Attract third party debt funding and Lead negotiation of key economic aspect of investments with counterparties (lending banks, EPC, developers etc.)
Ensure the efficient delivery of projects in development and construction using past experience in EPC, bank documentation preparation, legal documentation
Act as Board Member or Director of investee companies, monitor and review of the investments in the portfolio
Management accounts of portfolio’s assets
Support in liaising with renewable energy organisations, NGOs, etc
Follow the microeconomic trends of the clean energy sector (regulatory framework, tariffs, country targets, etc)
Support fund raising from time to time in Asia
Manage the administrative tasks of the local office (premises, hiring, etc)
Candidates must have experience across the entire investment process: origination, execution and asset management as well as managing a small team/office. Prior renewable energy transaction implementation (gained at bank, private equity fund, renewable energy developer or utility) is required.
Min 7-10 years relevant working experience
Strong project finance background in power energy from origination to closing
Corporate finance transaction experience (from origination to execution) in the energy sector (preferably renewables)
Relevant experience of power industry required
Experience in leading and directing teams
Fluent English required, preferably with at least one additional Asian language
A strong academic background is required, demonstrated by a top-tier degree
Preferably, well recognised professional designation in finance, investments or engineering
Experience in the renewable energy sector is a prerequisite
Power industry background is an advantage
Sound and solid financial toolkit (building models, analysing financial statements, performing valuations, development or construction, structuring deals)
The role requires exposure to Asian countries. Therefore fluency in local languages is preferable in order interact with acquired/prospective companies, regulators and investors and to analyse data
