Overview of the Department/Team

Nuveen Natural Capital is a land-focused asset management platform. Combining expertise across farmland and timberland investment specialists, we have over 35 years of land-based investing experience. With $9.7 billion of assets under management and 3 million acres across 600 properties in 10 countries, our platform is equipped to deliver investment solutions to protect and enhance nature, climate and people.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Nuveen Rotational Program offers an exciting mix of strategically aligned assignments, professional development, and the ability to experience and gain exposure to many facets of our organisation. The environment is challenging, hands on, and full of growth opportunities. Candidates can expect to work with financial services platforms and tools and will learn the techniques, disciplines and processes that deliver high quality results to our clients.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: This is a 2-year rotational program. As part of the program, you will have the opportunity to get grips with all aspects of Nuveen Natural Capital and growth areas of Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and SE Asia. You will gain hands on experience across a number of areas within the department through 4-6 months placements with Nature Based Solutions, Farmland, Timberland and Africa. You will Have the opportunity to explore the landscape of the key investment pillars within Nuveen Natural Capital as well as the strategies and metrics of performance. A very unique opportunity exists to explore the investible universe of natural capital in frontier markets such as Sub-Sahara Africa and SE Asia with market analysis and investment evaluation. You will also collaborate with Nuveen’s Australian farmland team in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and around the country as required.

You will have unique networking opportunities and access to Nuveen Senior Leadership; experience ongoing personal and professional development opportunities and participate in financial services and behavioural based training.

Given the Australian school year aligns with a December or January start we will work with you to align timing for the graduate program.

What skills & competencies we require:

• You will need to have obtained or studying towards a degree discipline supporting finance, agriculture or environmental studies and have graduated by December 2023

• A demonstrable interest for investment opportunities across farmland and timberland and a curiosity to explore emerging markets.

• Affinity for natural capital, ESG, and the reporting and metrics that support the Nuveen Natural Capital goals

• Learning agility to quickly assess key risks and market drivers in various geographies and drive analysis toward actionable insights.

• The desire and commitment to travel to assets and support the goals of the team.

• Examples of professional & personal commitment to excellence

• Good interpersonal skills and collaboration skills

• Strong verbal and writing skills

• Demonstrable competency in Excel and PowerPoint to analysis and present data effectively

• Prior internship experience is a plus

• Ability to adapt and embrace change

• Desire to continuously learn
