Nuveen Investments CW Data Scientist – Data Intelligence Projects in Virtual, New Jersey

The Business Systems Analyst assists with the analysis of business and information needs in order to design optimal systems solutions. Working under close supervision, this job helps to design system solutions that are appropriate for business needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization's information systems architecture. This job also identifies improvements to the existing IT systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Identifies business needs, conducts requirement gathering, and defines scope and objectives of each project.

  • Collecting and analyzing information on new technology products and development tools for systems and applications, network and data, software and hardware.

  • Makes recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology.

  • Assists with the translation of business requirements into application requirements, and works with all members of the team to execute the application successfully.

  • Identify/escalate conflicts, issues and changes in order to appropriately manage scope

  • Maintains technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.

Job Role: Data Scientist – Data Intelligence Projects

The role will be responsible for developing, deploying and testing in various software technologies, application programs and data science models to support Data Intelligence’s mandate. This role would require light project management and some collaboration with other stakeholders from business, IT, risk and compliance.

Key skills will include: Python, machine learning, statistical modeling, exploratory data analysis, natural language processing, data visualization, network/graph modeling, ETL, data pipelines, data architecture, communication, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop applications, platforms and models including design, build and test in various software technologies, application programs in Client Analytics and Asset Management area.

  • Utilize advanced machine learning techniques (e.g. anomaly detection, recommendation engines, neural network/deep learning, reinforcement) to turn research ideas into practical solutions

  • Deploy and Support these mission critical systems and applications on a daily basis and troubleshoot production problems.

  • Create written business requirements, functional requirements and technical specification documents to design and develop technical solutions that meet business needs

• Occasionally help with light project management/planning activities such as maintaining product backlog or entering progress in clarity.

Required Qualifications

1-3 years relevant financial industry experience preferred Advanced Python/R and database proficiency with experience in Bloomberg API, SQL, Tableau and Excel a plus Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, data analytics, and data modeling Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Amazon AWS and Google Cloud Platforms Familiarity with software development tools, profiling/tuning tools, and source control (Git) etc. Degree(s) in relevant subject such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Quantitative Finance or related technical field Attention to detail and ability to write quality technical documents Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Potential Salary: $58.56 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).Â
