Sr Data and Engineering Analyst

The Sr Data and Engineering Analyst is responsible for the assessment, improvement and governance of quality and ongoing fitness-for-purpose of data, ensuring adequate data quality is maintained so that data can effectively support business processes. Working under limited supervision, this job uses knowledge of the end-to-end master data processes and flows to design and implement master data management solutions in order to maintain a common, firm-wide data standard. This job reviews the work of lower level team members and partners with the team to implement new processes and methodologies as needed.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Implements tools and processes to maintain firm-wide data standards.

  • Provides business process, system support and data quality governance for master data through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to business and stakeholders.

  • Develops reports and dashboards to identify key business metrics, trends and analytical needs, and optimizes dashboard reporting for operations and management to enable data driven decision making.

  • Identifies and implements process improvements in relation to master data processes.

  • Reviews and evaluates master data management metrics, develops recommendations regarding opportunities for strengthening data integrity, quality and availability across the enterprise.

  • Assesses the current state of data quality and recommends optimal approaches for resolving data quality issues.

  • Identifies data quality metrics and executes data quality audits.

  • Monitors, tracks and reports ongoing data quality levels.

  • Prepares reports for management to quantify and articulate the business impact of data quality issues.

The Sr. Analyst, Remediation and Data Analytics ensures that data is accurate and available to support the development, implementation and execution of business analytics initiatives and projects. This job owns the assessment, improvement and governance of quality and ongoing fitness-for-purpose of data, ensuring adequate data quality is maintained so that data can effectively support business processes. Additionally, this role oversees the collection of data sources, as well as the analysis and extraction of key data and information for use in reporting and analytics. This job directs the examination and identification of data patterns and trends that help answer business questions and improve decision-making across multiple business units and domains. This role may also make recommendations that address business decisions, opportunities, needs, or challenges.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides business and technical expertise for the analytics process, tools and useful applications across multiple functions or business units

  • Manages large, cross-functional projects with limited oversight while working with peers and business partners to ensure accurate results and deliverables

  • Executes data analytics and processes for high impact projects across TIAA

  • Helps to develop standardized processes to support the full lifecycle of analytic requests including sizing/assessment, implementation, validation, delivery, and closeout.

  • Develops mechanisms for ensuring that information provided is accurate, meaningful, has integrity, and caters to the needs of the decision makers.

  • Develops and presents analytics-based reporting and conclusions for various lines of business that helps to inform key business decisions and/or initiatives.

  • Develop standardized processes to support the full lifecycle of analytic requests including sizing/ assessment, implementation, validation, delivery, and closeout.

  • Directly interface with senior leadership, external firms, or regulators as required.

  • Manage multiple initiatives across various stakeholders.

  • Manage the data analytics for multiple high impact legal, remediation, and compliance projects across TIAA across various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience using advanced SQL for data analysis

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience using advanced SQL for data analysis

  • 5+ years of capturing detailed requirements

  • 3 + years data analysis in the financial services industry

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • In-depth knowledge ofin house systems (OMNI, Pershing, UD, etc.) and associated data

  • Ability to move data from multiple platforms into one platform easily

  • Experience with performing remediation, legal or risk analytics a plus

  • Able to work on multiple projects at the same time

  • Experience working with data on different database platforms a plus

  • At least 5 years of experience collecting and documenting data or business requirements

  • Understands when to present the right analysis content using the right language to the right audience

  • Understands the correct language to use between technical teams and business teams

  • Must have a strong sense of urgency

  • Experience with the execution and documentation of data validation a plus

  • Detailed oriented

  • Self starter and self learner

PLEASE NOTE: This role is hybrid flex and not virtual/remote. It will require you to work out one of the office locations listed below at least 3 days a week.

Base Pay Range: $83,000/yr. - $138,300/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
